Hey everyone! What better way to come visit my blog again than with a 2024 recap! 2024 was a year of significant growth for me as a small business owner. I was busier than ever, with consistent bookings throughout each season—unlike previous years, where the fall was hectic, and the rest of the year was quieter. This year, I served 47 families—some more than once—delivered over 6,000 images, met and photographed seven newborns, and worked with two beautiful senior girls.
This year, I also pushed myself creatively by studying hard before each session. I planned my approach with specific goals for growth in posing and composition. Every year, I focus on stretching myself in one particular area. One year, I focused on candids, striving to capture playful, seemingly un-posed moments of families interacting naturally. Another year, I worked on incorporating movement into my images. In 2024, my focus was on “soft connection.” My goal was to create images that felt like art, alongside traditional portraits or snapshots by focusing on the quiet simple moments. I aimed to pull back and capture wide shots that showcased the scene, the life, and the moment as an observer sees it. Additionally, I wanted to highlight families interacting in soft, simple ways to complement the loud joy reflected in my classic images.
Capturing comfort and quiet moments became a major focus for me this year and I will say it’s still a work in progress, but I’m proud of my growth. As I reviewed all 6,000 images from 2024, I found myself especially drawn to those where no one was looking at the camera.
In 2025, my goal is to continue focusing on quiet moments, building on this year’s work, and focusing on composition to create more images that feel like art.
I hope you enjoy my favorite images from 2024. 🙂
